NIU Projects

A major component of the MPA Program at NIU is project based work both individual and collaborative with students encouraged to publish their work on their portfolios.

This page will serve at a repository of such projects with a basic description of all significant assignments with particularly substantive pieces having their own post made and linked.

Fall 2025:

PSPA 600:

Ethics Statement: We were instructed to review several professional Ethics Codes and Codes of Conduct and then compare and contrast two of our selection. I decided upon examining the ASPA and ICMA codes ultimately with me determining that aspirational codes are ultimately more useful and likely lead to better outcomes.

PSPA 605:

Classic Theory Analysis: We reviewed the three major theories of management and construct a nuanced but contained critique of two theories (for me, Human Relations and Theory Y) from the perspective of the remaining (Bureaucracy).

PSPA 630:

Local Government in the U.S.: The first question of our final exam required that we summarize local government in the U.S. To accomplish this I provided a brief history of sub-State government in the U.S. and then discussed contemporary municipal governance.

Alternative Service Delivery: For the second question on the final, I chose to summarize and discuss Alternative Service Delivery and its various forms, effects and efficacy.
